Irelands dominant performance over Wales has been rewarded with a shift to number 3 in the World Rugby rankings. This result, in conjunction with Scotland’s resilient victory of England in the Calcutta Cup, has culminated in Ireland surpassing England in the World Rugby rankings.
Ireland comfortably blew Wales off the park 29-7. The suffocating Irish defence, ensured the Welsh were fortunate to get a point on the board. An intercept try in the 74th minute provided Wales their only points of the evening.
Conversely, the Irish team, under the leadership of world class flyhalf Jonathon Sexton looked imposing. With the first round of the 6 Nations now over, Ireland will no doubt be pleased with how their campaign has begun. Although, an away fixture against France this coming weekend might prove a significantly more difficult challenge.

France appear to be in great form after a comfortable victory over Italy 37-10. Riding a wave of confidence behind two in form half’s. World Rugby Player of the year Antoine Dupont at scrum half and World Breakthrough player of the Year nominee Romain Ntamack at Fly Half.
Additionally, Gabin Villiere will also be one to look out for when the French take on the Irish this Saturday. Fresh off a hattrick against Italy the winger has incredible balance and speed. No doubt, the Les Bleus fixture versus Ireland this weekend will be a fascinating watch for Rugby fans.
