Jaguares made history on Friday by reaching their first ever Super Rugby final following a convincing 39-7 win over the Brumbies in Buenos Aires.
Scrum half Tomas Cubelli got the hosts off to the perfect start when he pounced on a loose ball to score the opening try of the game after just five minutes.
The Argentinians then scored a second try from close range through flanker Tomas Lavanini giving them a 20-point lead going into the final play of the first half, when hooker Folau Fainga’a powered over to give the Brumbies hope.
However less than 10 minutes into the second half the Jaguares reinstated their 20-point lead after a big hit on Brumbies playmaker Christian Lealiifano resulted in a devastating counter attack which was finished off by centre Matias Orlando.
The Argentinian international then doubled his try tally on the hour mark when he bounced a defender and ran in from 30 metres, extending his side’s lead to 27 points.
Jaguares capped off a fantastic performance with a final try for full back Emiliano Boffelli following another loose kick by Lealiifano, concluding a memorable night at Estadio Jose Amalfitani for Argentinian rugby.
