James Haskell and former Badminton star Gail Emms join Paul McVeigh for a Sportlobster TV discussion about mental health in sport, and how professional athletes and sportsmen of all calibres deal with some of the pressures that exist.
In a fascinating part of the discussion, Haskell goes into detail about how an ex girlfriend once dumped him just hours before kick off against the All Blacks.
“I did kind of imagine the All Blacks were her aswell, so I put extra venom into the tackle.”
He then explains that music plays a key part in how to deal with such situations, and that the rugby team environment plays a huge role in coping with whatever kind of external stress you’re under.
There are some very interesting insights, as well as amusing anecdotes from all involved.
