Until this year’s tournament, Japan had only ever won one match at the Rugby World Cup, way back in 1991 against Zimbabwe. Now they have two victories, and are on course for a possible third following another impressive display, this time against Samoa, who they beat 26-5.
They missed out on a bonus point but still have an outside chance of making the quarter finals, a phenomenal achievement for the country that will host the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
