Confirming his exit from Gallagher Premiership finalists Bath just last month, Elliot Stooke has now named his next club well away from the West Country of England.
Lining up alongside new signings Henry Taefu and Jack O’Sullivan, Stooke donned the red and black of Japanese side RedHurricanes Osaka.
“I am honored to become a member of the RedHurricanes Osaka”, Stooke said. “The team’s spirit and the support of the fans are truly inspiring. I am really excited to embrace this new challenge, learn from my teammates, and work hard to achieve great things together.”
RedHurricanes Osaka look to mean business this year by bringing in top quality talent from abroad, including the former Munster man, O’Sullivan, and the Moana Pasifika centre, Taefu.
“I am excited about the new challenges and opportunities that await me,” O’Sullivan, the former Ireland U20s player, continued. “The chance to experience a different culture, to play in a new league, and to grow both personally and professionally is something I am very much looking forward to. I’d like to thank the RedHurricanes for their faith in me that I’m very keen to repay.”
Samoan international Taefu added: “I am excited to be joining RedHurricanes OSAKA. I loved playing in the Rugby World Cup in Japan 2019 and I always wanted to come back and play rugby here one day so I’m grateful to the RedHurricanes for this opportunity. The RedHurricanes is a great team and I am looking forward to giving my best to the team and the supporters. The Japanese style of rugby is exciting and I’m looking forward to the challenge on the field and embracing everything about the Japanese culture off the field.”
