Join Bhubesi Pride's charitable rugby coaching adventure in Africa

BY Grant Constable  ·  Monday Apr 5, 2010

Next January, an ambitious team of six rugby enthusiasts will depart from the UK and head south on a 15 000 mile journey to coach rugby to African youngsters and empower local staff in ten African countries. The final destination is Cape Town, five months later. You can be a part of that journey by applying to join today.

Travelling in two Land Rover Defenders, the Bhubesi Pride coaching team will base themselves near each school or community for a week, providing daily coaching sessions to pupils aged 10 to 15. Its a charitable project that will no doubt change the lives of hundreds of underprivileged kids, with rugby as the vehicle.

Creating a rugby legacy, the team will actively involve teachers, coaches and volunteers in all coaching sessions. They will be provided with simple coaching guides and development programmes so theyre able to continue uniting children through the sport in the future. There will also be an active focus on tackling health and social issues.

British schools are encouraged to get involved in the project as they can become official linked schools. If youre a teacher, coach, parent or pupil, you can tell Bhubesi Pride about your favourite training sessions, share fundraising ideas, or simply offer your support for the preparation of this exciting and worthwhile project.

Rugbydump has got involved with the aim of getting word out there as we truly believe this is a fantastic venture that will not only be an incredible experience for all involved, but without a doubt help change lives forever. Hopefully, if all goes well, RD will be joining up with the team along the way at some stage next year.

So if youre interested in seeing Africa, coaching rugby, and changing lives, you can apply for one of the five available places on the expedition team. If youre a motivated, adventurous individual with a passion for community rugby coaching, this could be the ultimate opportunity as you join Bhubesi Pride on this charitable rugby coaching project.

The top twenty applicants will be invited to an assessment day in May, where the final five to join Richard on the team will then be selected. Were confident, and hoping, that at least one of the team members will be chosen after hearing about and applying for this through Rugbydump.

The video explains it all, but to find out more information and most importantly apply, please get on over to Rugbyinafrica.org today.
