There’s a lot to be said about fantasy rugby. You join your mates in friendly competition as you prove who has the greatest knowledge of the game, either for a set prize or simply bragging rights.
It can be enjoyed by unlimited players, whether with friends, family, or work colleagues – heck you can even do it on your own. Absolutely nothing can go wrong when playing this game. It’s not like you’ll end up shipping yourself off to Morocco if you lose, is it?
Well, if anyone has previously wondered about that oddly specific question, we now have the answer.
Fifteen lads from Portugal decided to put a little more at stake on this year’s competition when they decided to add a punishment for the loser in their fantasy rugby league, resulting in one lad finding himself on the plane and on the way to Marrakesh Menara Airport just one day after the 2025 Six Nations competition finished.
“Everyone entered with €15, and the guy in last place had to take the cheapest flight from Portugal (to anywhere in the world),” our anonymous source told RugbyDump.
“The person in first place would receive the difference from the total amount and the price of the flight,” he continued.
“We decided that once the final match ends (France-Scotland) and the app updated the final fantasy scores, we would buy the cheapest flight from Lisbon.”
Finding himself bottom of the fantasy pile with 1868 points, former Grupo Desportivo Direito player, Antonio Cortes booked the cheapest flight to…Morocco.
The rules: “One day flight – spend the day there – drink a local beer and come back to Portugal”
Waving the Moroccan flag in the scorching Moroccan sun, Antonio followed through as he enjoyed the sights and the local beers on Sunday, before being cheered back through the gates at Lisbon airport that evening.

Not a bad punishment by all accounts.
