Last week we asked you to submit your questions for World Cup winner Lawrence Dallaglio via the
Rugbydump Facebook Page
. There were some good ones, so earlier this week Nick sat down with him in a pub in London for a chat.
A staunch Wasps man, it would have been difficult to chat to Dallaglio without asking him about the side he played over 15 years of rugby for. He’s naturally frustrated with them being mid-table, but made it clear that coaching is not something he’s looking to get into to help.
He touched on professionalism and the salary cap, and how that affects clubs and players in this age where physicality is such an integral part of the sport. Another interesting question was about the sin bin, and if ten minutes is enough of a deterrent for players with itchy fingers.
All in all, he says rugby is on a good place. “I think the product on display is good. The rule changes we’ve seen in the last twelve months have made a massive difference. Much less kicking, and it seems to be quite an exciting game again,” Dallaglio said.
He also tells us why it’s not a good idea to go out drinking with Jason Leonard.
