Springbok and Leicester Tigers Number Eight Jasper Wiese has become one of the preeminent backrows in the international game.
Having taken hold of the Bok Number Eight shirt in Duane Vermuelen’s absence, Wiese looks set to be the Bok starter heading into the 2023 season.
Having gone somewhat under the radar during his time with the Free State Cheetahs, Wiese’s move to the Tigers gave him an opportunity to show what he is capable of at the top level.
Since joining the club in 2020, Wiese has gone on to make over 50 appearances for them and has become one of the first names on the team sheet.
In this weekend’s clash with bitter rivals the Northampton Saints, Wiese was once again at the forefront as the Tigers fell to a one-point loss.
Whilst Wiese is certainly one of the tougher players in the game, one moment of apparent madness has been captured by a fan and is now doing the rounds on social media.
As Wiese goes low with a tackle on Saints prop Alex Waller, he appears to twist his ankle in an awkward fashion.
The incident has divided opinions online with many saying there was no intent whilst others feel it was deliberate.
