Former Welsh international Louis Rees-Zammit has found his next NFL home, as reported by NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Cut by the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, on Tuesday, Rees-Zammit cleared through the NFL’s waiver wire, which allows teams to submit claims for qualifying players who have previously been cut by other teams.
By clearing through this process, the Welshman, who came through the IPP (International Player Pathway), is exempt from counting against a team’s practice squad numbers.
The Jacksonville Jaguars, owned by Shahid Khan, the owner of Fulham Football Club, staked their claim for the winger-turned-running back.
Designated as the unofficial UK home team, the Jaguars play two home games per year in London, at venues such as Wembley and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
For Rees-Zammit he will now play alongside former number one overall draft pick Trevor Lawrence who came was considered to be a generational talent at quarterback when he entered the league.
