It was a top versus bottom encounter at the Sportsground on Wednesday night as Connacht hosted league leaders Leinster and produced a great performance to beat them 27-13, thus boosting their chances of Heineken Cup qualification.
Tries from Brian Tuohy, Troy Nathan, and this cracker from Michael Swift, helped Connacht to only their second win over Leinster since 2004.
Michael Swift scored one of the tries of the season for Connacht as they swept up field through some great handling and continuity, recycling the ball at speed and offloading before contact.
They held out the Leinster attacks for the rest of the match with a great defensive display, setting up a Heineken Cup promotion place encounter with Ulster at Ravenhill. Both sides sit at the bottom of the table with 26 points a piece.
The home crowd swamped the field at fulltime, celebrating what was a historic and inspired win over the European champions and Magners League leaders.
