Earlier this week, Exeter Chiefs announced the signing of Tongan utility back, Solomone Kata – and it seems that the rest of the Premiership should be worried.
The dual code star was highly sought after by a number of Australian and New Zealand clubs after his stint with the Brumbies came to an end. However, it was Exeter who won the race to his signature, and head coach Rob Baxter was delighted.
“He is explosive, he’s dangerous and a quality player. Obviously, he has just got here so he will take a few days to get up to speed, but you can tell by meeting him that he is already settling in well to the group and will give us those options we need in midfield”
Alongside Baxter’s glowing review of their new man, Exeter Chiefs shared a video montage of Kata’s best hits and tries, and it is something to behold.
Clearly influenced by the Pacific Island style of rugby, Kata is the type of player who will tackle first and ask questions later.

Fans across the Premiership should be excited to see him take the field – hopefully in the blockbuster season opener against Leicester Tigers.
