This weekend’s third round of the French Top 14 season has been hit by another match cancellation as Lyon’s encounter with Bordeaux-Bègles postponed amid fresh COVID-19 cases.
Already affected this season so far, Lyon reported more positive cases within their squad, which had initially been rescheduled to Monday, meaning that organisers had no other option but to delay it until Monday.

According to L’Équipe, Lyon is back in phase two of the Ligue Nationale de Rugby’s medical protocol. This means that teams can only “work in small separate groups to limit the risk of contamination”.
Phase three of the protocol allows teams to “progressively return to collective contact training” while phase four is a complete return to competition.
The postponement of the match also means that Clermont’s meeting with Agen has been moved back from its original kick-off time of 18:15, to 15:15, allowing host broadcasters Canal+ to transmit live coverage of the match.
