Munster Rugby star Simon Zebo has today confirmed that he will retire from professional rugby at the end of the current season.
Making his Munster debut in 2010 whilst still a member of the province’s academy, Zebo would become the top try scorer in the province’s history with 72 in 173 appearances to date.
Two years after making his Munster debut, Zebo made his international debut for Ireland against the All Blacks. Since then the utility back has made 35 appearances in the green shirt scoring seven tries in the process.
Releasing a statement confirming his departure from professional rugby, Zebo wrote,
After much thought, I’ve decided that this season will be my last playing the game I love. It has been a dream come true, making memories and friends for life and travelling the world with amazing people.
A huge thank you to my family, friends, teammates, coaches and supporters – without ye none of this would have been possible. I am truly grateful for all the love and support over the years.
I’ve loved every second, it’s been some craic and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Lots of Love

In addition to his time with Munster and Ireland, the 34-year-old played for Top 14 side Racing 92 for three seasons as well as playing for the British and Irish Lions in 2013.
