Reigning URC Champions Munster Rugby could be set to lose another key contributor at the end of the season following Antoine Frisch’s call-up to the French Six Nations squad.
For the 27-year-old centre, this is not the first time he has been involved with an international set-up, having made three appearances for the Emerging Ireland side in 2022.
For Munster, it would be a cruel blow to lose another star player to the IRFU’s Non-Irish Qualified ruling just a year after seeing Jean Kleyn capped by the Springboks.
Kleyn would go on to win a World Cup with the country of his birth but his ineligibility for Ireland meant that Munster had to choose between him and countrymen RG Snyman.
Snyman would go on to sign for rivals Leinster a few months later to remain in Ireland for another as his family are well settled in the country.
The news of Frisch’s call up was met with good will for the player but disappointment that Munster may lose out.
Congratulations to Munster centre Antoine Frisch on being called up to the France squad ahead of next week’s clash against England 🇫🇷#SUAF 🔴 pic.twitter.com/6UYaHvHxqB

Delighted for Antoine but what a big loss for Ireland

Another one Munster will have to lose now probably? Should have been capped

If Antoine Frisch gets capped by France next week more Munster players will have made their international debut for foreign teams than for Ireland in the last 18 months. #TeamCohesion

Best of luck to Antoine Frisch. Will have to see how the call up works out but if you are looking to play on ball rugby he’s a decent guy to have onboard.
Whatever direction Ireland are moving in it seems some international coaches rate Munster players over cohesion. https://t.co/fm8Eyox6RR— Overthehillprop (@Overthehillprop) March 10, 2024
France’s selection of Munster’s Irish-qualified center Antoine Frisch for the final Six Nations clash against England next weekend is sure to set Munster fans on edge! 🏉🇫🇷 #SixNations #Rugby #France #England #Munster
