Reigning BKT URC Champions Munster Rugby are set to unveil the signing of Lyon back Thaakir Abrahams ahead of next season per reports in French publication Le Progres.
The 24-year-old former Sharks player has earned comparisons to Springbok star Cheslin Kolbe and will join Connacht’s Diarmuid Kilgallen as one of Munster’s marquee outside back signings ahead of next season.
Playing in this season’s Investec Champions Cup for Lyon, Abrahams scored five tries in five matches for French club.
His move would free up a valuable non-French eligible spot in the Lyon squad and for Munster would go a long way towards offsetting the loss of star fullback Simon Zebo who has confirmed that he will retire at the end of the season.
