Munster stunned the rugby world with an unbelievable 19-point comeback to beat Clermont in France on Saturday night in the Champions Cup.
The visitors went 28-9 down at Stade Marcel-Michelin but two tries late on in the game saw Munster pull off an incredible 31-39 win to go third in Pool B.
Clermont dominated the first quarter of the match with three converted tries plus a penalty try but only scored three more points throughout the entire game as Munster rolled them over in an historic win for the Irish province.
Fans and pundits have taken to social media to praise Munster’s performance while there were some funny incidents from try scorer Alivereti Raka and some incredible scrummaging early on in the contest. Full match highlights are also available below as well as the very best reaction on social media.
Last Clermont home loss in Champions Cup against non-French opposition was 15-32 v Sale in 2008

Today has answered an important question.
Turns out that I prefer to see French teams blow huge leads than seeing Munster lose.
I’m getting soft.

Here’s a new video taking a closer look at a clever try from Munster last night.
Really like how Munster play on the maul/crash ball expectations of Clermont’s defence here to create something special.#RugbyAnalysis #ASMvMUN pic.twitter.com/xKhDClRdO7

Have had to bear 2 bad weeks in FPL, a few bad defeats to teams I support in various sports & then I sat down to watch Munster in the ERC. I was almost ready to give up on sport – but then…. I mean Munster, what a comeback. Restored my faith.

would’ve taken a losing BP at 25 mins. to come back and win it without giving clermont a losing BP #ASMvMUN #SUAF pic.twitter.com/ecWG1Hz14i

That result for Munster in Clermont really is something else. To take it from 28-9 down 25 minutes in away from home to winning it 31-39 is a truly seismic achievement.#ASMvMUN

That game perfectly shows the importance of momentum. Munster chipped away at that lead and get a first win at CLERMONT #ASMvMUN

This has been a remarkable Munster performance. Not many do this to Clermont in France even with no crowd. Looked dead and buried after half an hour but what a turnaround. #ASMvMUN

We’ve only gone and turned over Clermont in their own back yard #Suaf @Munsterrugby #munvcler
