Giant Fijian winger Nemani Nadolo scored a hat-trick over the weekend, scoring enough points to take down Brive by himself in Montpellier’s emphatic 54-10 win. Oddly enough, he did the exact same thing to Brive one year ago.
Nadolo got his scoring started when Brive somehow forgot to cover his side of the field, allowing him to collect the wide open pass and saunter in past Zee Ngwenya for the first of his three.
His second try was completely self-manufactured and showed nice skill as he intercepted a mistake from fullback Benjamin Lapeyre and then turned on the gas.
The third was set up nicely with the help of a streaking Martin Devergie who found yet another hole in the Brive defense. Once again, Ngwenya was left scrambling and Nadolo collected the pass for the easiest of his scores.
While all three tries were fairly straight forward for a top class winger, there’s still something special about watching the 130 kg, fleet-footed Fijian score tries all over the park.
