Former Australian head coach Michael Cheika has been announced as head coach of the Los Pumas.
Chieka is an experienced coach. His list of accolades includes winning a super rugby final with the Waratahs in 2014. In doing so, he beat a Crusaders side stacked with some incredible rugby players including Richie Mccaw, Daniel Carter and Keiran Read.
He also coached the Australian national team, the Wallabies, to a Rugby World Cup final in 2015. Before eventually getting beaten by the All Blacks.
Most recently Cheika was the director of rugby for the NEC Green Rockets. During his tenure he contracted NRL star Blake Ferguson. Ferguson was arrested for cocaine possession while in Japan and a subsequent restructure of the NEC Green Rockets staff ensued.
Nonetheless, Cheika will be a great addition to the Los Pumas coaching staff ahead of the World Cup in 2023.
