Legendary Rugby referee Nigel Owens is not one to back down when is in the right.
In a great move to call out an online troll, Owens published a screenshot of homophobic abuse he received from a South African Rugby fan.
The comment and account it came from have now been deleted but said the following “”F*** you Nigel, you should stay out of South African rugby games. I… we have not time to hear options from f*****s like you (sic)”.
Owens managed to capture a screenshot of the message which he posted to his 400k followers on social media.
This is what I shared on instagram and Facebook of the homophobic comments received. My Instagram is linked to my Facebook page by the way. https://t.co/0LeLPPCVBd pic.twitter.com/w461eDf2ws

Following his posting of the screenshot, Owens confirmed that he has now been banned from Facebook.
I shared a post on Facebook of someone who was posting homophobic comments at me, and Facebook have blocked ME for 30 days. Not the person who was actually posting the homophobic comments. Unbelievable. And now I can’t contact Facebook to explain 🙈🙈

Owen has since gone on to post another horrific letter that he has received, this time it was a hand written document.
I’ve thought long and hard about posting this letter I received in the post a few weeks ago singed by a Steel Worker PT. But unless we start calling out these kind of people nothing will change. It hurts and there is no need for all this hate. #BeKind pic.twitter.com/sQiTNRfpSy
