In the last couple of seasons, rugby has seen a rise in signing videos, which have ranged from the mundane to the truly perverse. Well, the Ospreys may have set a new bar when it comes to strange videos after they announced the signing of Gareth Anscombe from the Cardiff Blues.
The video sees a man in hospital having a blood transfusion whereby his blue blood is replaced with black blood, obviously the kit colours of his current and new club. You may have to see it to believe it.
Despite interest from other clubs, the 27-year-old Kiwi had to stay in Wales if he wanted to continue to play for the national side. He has opted to join rivals Ospreys, leaving at the end of the season.
Anscombe posted a message on twitter yesterday to express his thoughts on leaving the Blues.
“It is with mixed emotions that I write this, excited for my new journey but also sad to leave a group/team I have a lot of respect for. First and foremost I want to thank everyone that’s supported me at the Blues, it hasn’t always been the easiest and your support has helped me which I will never forget and will forever be grateful for.
“On a positive I am excited to start a new challenge and hope to continue working on my game so I can be the best I can be and am grateful the Ospreys are giving me that opportunity.
“Thanks to all for your messages today and I look forward to finishing out the rest of the season with some good results.”
