Hulking former Welsh international backrow Andy Powell has taken aim at current Welsh flyhalf Gareth Anscombe’s wife Milica in a twitter spar.
Powell appears to have taken exception to Milica quote retweeting his comments surrounding former players coming forward about the lasting effect the game has had on their health.
Appearing to make reference to his former Captain Ryan Jones, Powell had the following to say.
“We choose to play the game we know the problems what can happen!! Problems happen even if you don’t play sport.”

Jones who has recently announced that he has been diagnosed with early onset dementia joins a growing list of former players who are reporting serious brain injuries.
Anscombe however was taking the comments lightly and fired back with the following.
“I’ve already got one toddler and a new-born… to say I don’t have time for a third child is an understatement… @andypowell8”

Whilst the spat itself would appear to be a storm in a teacup, the issue surrounding brain injuries is a recurring topic.
Many former players have said they understood the risks around the game whilst others have said that perhaps the education at the time was not sufficient to fully understand the risks.
Irrespective of this, World Rugby has stated regularly that player welfare is the number one priority for them.
A fact that many may disagree with, with a World Cup on the horizon the games top administrators will be hoping that the new rules around the tackle, ruck and general contact areas will be fully bedded in.
