South African Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus is seen by many as the genius behind the revival of the Springboks.
For a country where Rugby is a religion, the Boks performances between 2011 & 2018 left a lot of fans disillusioned with the side.
Struggling to retain players, uninspired head coaching choices and political interference saw the Springboks fall to historic lows.
As such the SOS was sent for Erasmus and current head coach Jacques Nienaber to return from their duties with Irish side Munster prematurely to save the Boks.
With little over year to go to the 2019 World Cup, Erasmus and Nienaber turned the Boks from nearly rans to World Champions.
From here they would go on to win a series against a strong British & Irish Lions team. During the series Erasmus would play a pivotal role as the Boks rebound from losing the opening test to win the series 2 – 1.
The victory wouldn’t come without its drama however as Erasmus picked up a six month ban for criticising the match officials in the wake of the opening test loss.
How the feedback video which was intended for World Rugby ended up in the public has been heavily debated.
Still serving his ban Erasmus is back at it on social media releasing this hilarious video as he celebrated the Boks comprehensive victory over a floundering All Blacks side.
Blasting famous Afrikaans singer Robbie Wessels, Erasmus shows off his skills that might even have Scott Robertson worried….
