In shocking news this morning, England Rugby assistant coach Felix Jones has reportedly quit the international set-up with immediate effect due to issues within the coaching environment.
Regarded as one of the greatest defensive minds in the game, Jones arrived to coach England following his 2023 World Cup-winning exploits with South Africa, putting his double World Cup-winning mind into revolutionising England’s defence.
In his short tenure with the men in white, Jones was upgraded from defence specialist to assistant coach following England’s vastly improved performances in the Six Nations. According to a report today, however, his journey will not continue due to being unsettled by an unstable working environment.
The report by The Times comes just weeks after head coach Steve Borthwick saw coaches Aled Walters and Tom Tombleson leave the squad. It is understood that the exodus of these coaches, as well as the uncertainty behind Kevin Sinfield’s role, played a part in Jones’ exit.
These exits have raised concerns surrounding Borthwick’s management style, with it worth noting that he did spend many years as former head coach Eddie Jones’ understudy – a man famous for cycling through staff members.
