From Mr Met to the KC Wolf, sports mascots are a national pastime in American sports.
These mysterious creatures are often the go-to for entertainment, particularly if their team is not in the best form. They lead the charge when it comes to raising the fans’ spirits.
Mascots are now becoming more common in sports worldwide, including the beautiful game of rugby.
The likes of Big Chief (Exeter Chiefs), Stealth (Leicester Tigers), or Kingsley (Gloucester Rugby) have previously led the charge, but it would now appear the Premiership trio have an emerging rival on the other side of the English Channel.
Bayonne’s mascot Pottoka has recently gained the interest of the wider rugby public following his outlandish performance during Bayonne’s victory over Exeter in round four of the Champions Cup.
As Exeter were getting set to throw in for a line-out, Pottoka took his chance to get some airtime and used it wisely!
Looking deadpan into the camera, the horse went to work with some world-class ‘twerking’, which left the commentators in stitches and the camera crew panning away quickly!
