Saracens have received a lot of criticism over social media after an independent ruling found them guilty earlier this week for breaking the Premiership salary cap.
The European champions were fined £5m and deducted 35 league points for not adhering to the salary cap on player wages in the Premiership over the past three seasons and here is how fans, pundits and former players have reacted so far.

Heard from Saracens supporters this week who’ve been abused in the street. That cannot be right. You’ll react in your own way if you’re off to Kingsholm tomorrow, but this is worth thinking about. Gloucester V Saracens 2.30pm @btsportrugby https://t.co/qriyGB9dfw

Clubs like Saracens are one of the main reasons why so few clubs are able to compete in European rugby.
If they start paying £600,000 for players that becomes the wage ‘floor’.
Then people wonder why teams like the Dragons are held together with a bit of glue and sellotape.

Can anyone explain how this is fair for saracens players #saracens pic.twitter.com/4SHrJjZdZF

I like Saracens as a club. I admire what they have created and I like Nigel Wray.
But, this is the second time in 5 years they have been caught breaking the salary cap rules. If you say the sanctions are ludicrous, what action do you say should have been taken?— Brian Moore (@brianmoore666) November 5, 2019
I am quite literally loving the calls from Saracens fans for their players to boycott the 6Nations 🙏🏻 pic.twitter.com/YXsMqFv7y8
