Questions have been raised over the decision to disallow a try for Bath scrum half Ben Spencer in the last minute of Saturday’s Champions Cup clash with Scarlets.
The former Saracens player made a dart for the line in the final play of the game, but after referring to the TMO Spencer was deemed to have placed the ball short of the try line and the game was over.
However what the officials didn’t consider is that Scarlets lock Sam Lousi dived on Spencer on the ground and stripped the ball, preventing the Bath scrum half from recycling the ball.
Great result for Scarlets but if Spencer is short and the player on the floor steals the ball isn’t that a penalty to bath?

Spencer’s demeanour suggested he knew he was short and therefore it could be argued that Lousi illegally stole possession.
