Gloucester and fly-half Adam Hastings has been removed from the Scotland squad ahead of this year’s Six Nations, with the talented playmaker set to see a specialist surrounding a recent knee injury.
The 27-year-old was injured during Gloucester’s victory over Castres in the Challenge Cup at Kingsholm on Friday night in which he scored a try in their 35-5 win.
A statement from Gloucester said: “Hastings will consult with a specialist later this week to understand the extent of the injury before continuing his rehabilitation with the Gloucester Rugby medical staff.”
This will be a big blow for the son of former Scotland great, Gavin Hastings. Having recently missed out on the World Cup, Adam Hastings has been working hard to regain his position in the national squad. His exclusion, whilst not replaced as of yet, leaves only Finn Russell and Ben Healy as number ten choices.
