Australia A beat Fiji 50-13 this past weekend in the Pacific Nations Cup, outscoring their opponents by seven tries to two at Ballymore in sunny Brisbane.
It was a disappointing loss for the islanders, who after conceding an early try struggled to get back into the match, thus threw a few 50-50 passes that were quickly snapped up and converted into points by the talented Australian A team.
One of the highlights of the match for the Fijians, and spectators at the ground, was midway through the first half when huge flanker Semisi Naevo smashed the larger Hugh McMeniman with one of the biggest tackles to have been seen at Ballymore.
Man of the Match McMeniman, from Queensland, said afterwards, It was the biggest tackle I’ve ever been hit with.”
I haven’t been hit like that since I was a schoolboy, when I was 94kg.”
