Veteran fullback Kurtley Beale has been re-called into the Wallabies squad ahead of their summer tests against Wales and Georgia.
In what will be his first test appearance in over three years, Beale will be looking to build upon his current total of 95 caps after last facing defeat against Wales back in 2021.
“There were some very tight selection calls, as there always are when selecting a national team,” said Wallaby head coach Joe Schmidt.
“We have a short runway into our first Test, so we’re just keen to get to work and make as much progress as we can over the four days we have in Brisbane.”
This will be the 35-year-olds first test since his legal troubles concluded involving a 29-year-old woman, for a charge that the Aussie man was found not guilty of. After being cleared by the courts, and receiving the all-clear to return to play by Rugby Australia, Beale said “My family and I have suffered a terrible year, and I’m so glad that the truth has come out.”
Having returned to play for Western Force in the Super Rugby Pacific competition in April, Beale’s performances have been impressive, leading to his deserved recall to the national squad.
