An eye-opening highlights reel of Wales and Saracens centre Nick Tompkins has been put together which makes it hard to believe his shortage of international caps.
The 26-year-old recently returned from his loan spell with the Dragons earlier this year and has so far featured in every Premiership game this season.
The illusive centre has made more than 100 appearances for Sarries and he exploded onto the international scene in 2020, scoring a try against Italy just six minutes after coming off the bench to mark his debut in the Six Nations.
Later on in the same tournament Tompkins set up one of the tries of the championship against England with a lovely end-to-end score straight from kick off in the second half time at Twickenham.
The England-born centre was hailed by Jim Hamilton and other pundits following the tournament and backed him for selection in the British & Irish Lions squad to tour South Africa earlier this year.
However despite not making the cut with Warren Gatland, Tompkins’ physicality and linkup play make him a wonderful asset for Saracens and YouTuber Andrew Forde has put together a brilliant six-minute montage to showcase his impact at both club and international level.
Tompkins most recently featured in all three Test matches against Canada and Argentina during Wales’ summer tour, taking his tally to 13, and he will be looking to add to this now he’s back playing with Saracens in the Gallagher Premiership.
“I think going away was a really good opportunity to go into a new group and have a bit more responsibility,” said Tompkins on his time with the Dragons.
“It was unbelievably good for personal growth to have that experience and learn more about myself.
“I have been at Saracens my whole career, so to be out and to see a different culture was brilliant. Dragons were brilliant as well. I had a great time and Dean Ryan is doing good things and I believe that they are going to do well.”
Wales will play the All Blacks, South Africa, Fiji and Australia this autumn which, providing he gets selected, could be the biggest test of his career so far.
