Springbok captain Siya Kolisi has risen to legendary status in the international game.
A World Cup winning captain leading arguably Rugby’s biggest national side all the while breaking down barriers for the game on a wider level.
It was fitting that he would be the first player to lead out a South African provincial side in a Champions Cup fixture.
The Sharks would go on to win the fixture 39 – 31 over English side Harlequins to get the South African campaign under way on the possible note.
Love it or hate it, the South African sides are here to stay and bring with them another rugby culture and a new level of competition.
