Springbok captain Siya Kolisi is no shrinking violet at 6’1″ and 105kg; the backrow more than holds his own in the physical stakes.
Yet, next to his best friend and fellow Springbok legend Eben Etzebeth, who at 6’9″ and 120kg is a colossus, Kolisi does look rather dainty.
‘Who is that guy?!’ – US sports commentator in awe of Springbok star
Discussing a moment where Kolisi was grateful for Etzebeth’s imposing figure, Kolisi referenced a trip he and Etzebeth made to Stamford Bridge.
Taking in the experience at the home of Premier League side Chelsea, Kolisi, who is a big Liverpool fan, recounts getting a little overexcited as his team equalised late on in the match.
Opening by saying he had a few drinks and that he was feeling ‘lekker warm’ whilst sitting amongst the Chelsea fans, Kolisi said he momentarily forgot where he was as he stood up and cheered.
“Chelsea scored first, and then Liverpool equalised,” Kolisi said as Etzebeth chuckled.
“Then I stood up and I screamed and I was so happy, everybody was quiet and everybody turned and looked at me.
“Then I knew I was in the kak (shit), and then you stood up, and obviously, you were wearing a t-shirt that made you just look bigger!
“I even looked at you and was like, dammit, I am scared! Then everybody calmed down and sat down.
“Then you grabbed me and said if you do that again, then I will do something to you myself!” Kolisi said with a chuckle.”
