As the Springboks gear up to do battle with Los Pumas in this weekend’s Rugby Championship final round.
The wheels of club rugby continue to turn in the republic as the next generation of rugby stars rub shoulders with seasoned veterans in perhaps the purest form of the game.
Whilst the Boks gear up to take to the pitch at the iconic Ellis Park, 40km away, club side Randfontein were playing against the KSC Harlequins.
By all accounts, Randfontein had a comfortable lead as the final score would end up being 101 – 0.
With such a significant lead, Randfontein could be forgiven for taking the foot off the gas.
Yet, as they received a clearing kick, the counterattack was on as they began a powerful run back at the Harlequins.
What unfolded was one of the strangest things we have seen on a rugby pitch as the Randfontein captain tackled his own teammate!
