Springbok captain Siya Kolisi’s move back to the Hollywoodbets Sharks has hit a reported stalemate with the South African side yet to agree terms with his French Top 14 club Racing 92.
Per reports in RugbyPass who first broke the move of Kolisi’s reported move, Racing 92 owner Jacky Lorenzetti is unwilling to accept a spread out payment of his the backrow’s transfer fee.
According to the RugbyPass piece, Racing want the full R17 million (around £726,200) fee paid up front whilst the Sharks want to spread the fee across three payments.
Kolisi who is currently leading the table topping Springboks in the 2024 Rugby Championship will need to return to Paris at the conclusion of his team’s campaign should the two parties not reach an agreement.
Lorenzetti who was unimpressed with the backrow throughout the season said that Kolisi had “gained weight, lost shape, and yesterday he was invisible.”
This perceived lack of performance for the club and the large fee they paid for the Springbok captain has meant that the Racing owner is unwilling to budge from his current position.
