England head coach Steve Borthwick has confirmed that Kevin Sinfield will remain with the side after signing a new contract.
The 44-year-old will continue to work in a squad mentoring role and will be tasked with improving individual skills and kicking within the squad.
The former defensive coach, who joined England in 2023, was expected to fully step away from the international set-up after the summer tour of Japan and New Zealand. It has now been confirmed that Sinfield will continue his impressive work with England thanks to terms that include providing “greater flexibility to balance [to his] other personal and professional commitments”.
Borthwick spoke about the re-signing, saying: “Kevin is a talented coach and an inspirational figure in our set-up.
“The work he does on and off the field is invaluable to our players, so I am pleased he’ll remain part of the management team and continue to contribute towards the success of England Rugby.
Sinfield added: “Working with Steve and the team has been an immensely rewarding experience, and I am excited to continue my involvement with the team.
“This new arrangement allows me to keep doing the thing that I’m passionate about, coaching and mentoring players, while also balancing other commitments which are important to me.”
