The United Rugby Championship 2022 got off to a bang this week with scintillating rugby action taking place all over the league.
Benetton Treviso got proceedings underway with an almighty thumping of Glasgow Warriors 33 -11 in the first game.
From there the stage was set for some incredible tense, close and exhilarating action.
Benetton’s Italian brethren pushed Leinster to the brink as they lost 33 – 29 with two missed conversions proving to be the difference between the two sides.
Cardiff Blues saw off Munster 20 – 13 to open their account whilst Welsh rivals the Scarlets and Ospreys played out an exciting 23 – 23 draw with a last-minute kick tying up the contest.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t all positivity for the Welsh sides as the Dragons were well and truly humbled by Edinburgh 44 – 6.
In the final fixture of the weekend, Ulster battered rivals Connacht 36 – 10 at the Kingspan Stadium as they continued where they left off last season.
Dan McFarland’s side were simply sublime in all areas of the game and look to be the real deal this season.
The biggest highlight of the evening was this epic offload by Irish international Stuart McCloskey to his centre partner Luke Marhsall.
The move itself was so slick that Marshall had to look to the referees to confirm it was legal!
Sometimes, it takes something special to open a defence. Step forward, Stuart McCloskey 💥 @Vodacom #URC | #ULSvCON pic.twitter.com/WHAVz09lZ7
