Taranakai won a hard-fought contest against Counties Manukau in week five of the Mitre 10 Cup on Wednesday. The moment of the match came shortly after kickoff as Leighton Price got the scores going with this beautiful offload, surely a contender for Try of the Season.
The try came from a bad error by Piers Francis, who we saw last week being hurdled as he attempted a tackle on Wellington’s Vaea Fifita.
This time he coughed up the ball in his own half, and second rower Price was quick to swoop and off to the races. Seeing his window closing, he pulled in multiple defenders and completed the monster wrap-around pass to Sean Wainui for the score.
Watch how he delays it perfectly and knows exactly where Wainui is the whole time.
Taranaki led at the half 20-7, but Counties would come back to take the lead 26-20.
Taranaki went on to seal the deal late with a try from Mitchell Crosswell and a conversion and penalty from Marty McKenzie, for a final score of 30-29.
Another week, another brilliant piece of skill from New Zealand.
