The Rugby World Cup group stages are done and dusted. The tournament now hots up with the much anticipated Quarter Finals. Today’s Plays of the Week from the Rugby Club brings us the best of the weeks gone by.
There’s some scorchers in their Try of the Week nominations, starting with the Russians. It was their first ever World Cup, and they did themselves proud with a beauty of a try against Ireland.
Argentina’s match winning try from Lucas Amorosino set up a brilliant conversion attempt and subsequent win against Scotland, and we get to enjoy it in Spanish. Sean Maloney, the man behind Plays of the Week, found Gethin Jenkins’ try againt Nambia so good that he got a little flusterred, and called him Gareth. Save the hate mail, he’s since assured me that it was the Rules to Rugby Union that got his head in a spin.
The Wallabies scored some fantastic tries too, none better than Adam Ashley-Cooper’s. There’s also the usual dose of big tackles and heavy collisions, including one below the belt.
Thanks as always to The Rugby Club on Fox Sports Australia. Enjoy.
