France and South Africa went to battle in Marseille over the weekend in what turned out to be a titanic clash between two World Cup favourites.
Les Bleus edged the Springboks 30 – 26 courtesy of a late try by Sipili Falatea.
Despite coming out on the wrong side of the result, the Springboks once again proved to be a real handful as they did the week before in Dublin.
Whilst the rugby on show was sublime at times, the fixture will perhaps be best remembered for two ugly red card incidents which involved two former World Players Of The Year.
The first of which was shown to South Africa’s Pieter-Steph Du Toit who rather recklessly smashed into French centre Jonathan Danty in a ruck.
In what was an ugly collision, Du Toit hit Danty square in the head which left the centre rolling around in agony.

The second red was handed out to the reigngin World Player Of The Year Antoine Dupont who collided with his former Toulouse teammate Cheslin Kolbe.
Dupont whacked Kolbe whilst the winger was in the air which led to him landing dangerously on his neck in a rather scary incident.
Both collisions were clearly worthy of red cards and could see both men picking up rather lengthy bans.
