We all love a prop assist and the sight of one bursting up the field in open space is one we surely need more of in today’s game. Wasps’ Kiwi import Jeffrey Toomaga-Allen obliged and showed a clean pair of heels to set up arguably the try of the weekend.
Wasps narrowly lost at home to Gloucester at home on Saturday but Toomaga-Allen’s sublime assist was all anyone was talking about as full back Rob Miller sprinted over for a simply gorgeous try in the second half.
The prop found a gap in the Gloucester defensive line and put on the afterburners in open space. It was a superb run but what was even more impressive was the reverse pass at pace to the on-rushing Miller who barely had to break stride to take the ball all the way to the line.
It was the sort of offload which backs would be proud of and it just shows how influential Toomaga-Allen has been for Wasps since his arrival at the club.
The poise and vision from the prop to sense exactly where Miller was plus the skill to throw the offload while essentially running away from his full back was sensational.
And to top it all off, Toomaga-Allen was also one of the first players running in support should Miller have needed him. He didn’t, so he began his celebration instead.
