Recent Wallaby debutant Harry Potter was presumed to be the only wizard in the world of rugby, but it appears now that a certain Tom Curry may receive his letter from Hogwarts ahead of next term thanks to his very own disappearing act.
The vanishing act was almost a carbon copy of Potter’s back in 2021 when he launched himself over the advertising rails and down into a 2-metre drop below. This time, Curry was entering the field after defeating Japan at the Allianz Stadium, jumping over the advertising boards to rejoin his teammates. Sadly for the Sale Sharks player, he would not reemerge on the other side.

it’s worth remembering that Curry has had challenges with injury, particularly with his hip. Speaking to the Guardian earlier this year, Curry said:
“I tried to get back running, did partial weight-bearing, walking, all the rehab stuff, and then I tried to run and I couldn’t. That was a really tough period but once I got to Loughborough it genuinely taught me to run again. And that’s when the relief came. I saw the surgeon again, he said: ‘My biggest worry was getting you back, this conversation is how we can make you better as a rugby player.’”
So for the 26-year-old to be able to return to top-flight international rugby after being told he may have to retire, is quite something.
