Top 14 powerhouse Rugby Club Toulonnais have reportedly made a move for Ireland centre Bundee Aki.
Per a report in French media outlet Midi Olympique the 34-year-old Aki who is out of contract in June 2025 has been approached by the former Champions Cup winners.
Aki who has earned 57 caps to date for Ireland was a World Player Of The Year nominee last year and was a standout performer at the Rugby World Cup.
His signing would be a major coup for Toulon with their current All Black utility back Leicester Fainga’anuku returning to New Zealand next season in a bid to revive his international career.
Joining Irish provincial side Connacht in 2014, Aki arrived from Super Rugby franchise the Chiefs as somewhat of an unknown commodity and has since gone on to become a cornerstone of the Connacht set-up with 141 appearances to date.
Give his age profile and the burgeoning talent in Irish Rugby namely Jamie Osborne and Hugh Gavin, Aki who recently became an Irish citizen will face stiff competition for his position in the national squad.
Internationally, Aki has won three Six Nations titles with Ireland as well as a series win in New Zealand and a drawn series in South Africa. In addition to his Irish honours, Aki was a member of the 2021 British and Irish Lions squad playing in the final test of that series.
