As we look forward to a big weekend of rugby with the
Heineken Cup
in Europe, lets have a quick look back at some key statistics from the Tri Nations, which finished a few weeks ago in Sydney.
As we all know, the All Blacks came up trumps as they played some fantastic rugby throughout and showed that they’re back to their best. While South Africa and Australia tried in vain, they couldn’t quite match the tempo and resilience shown by the men from New Zealand.
Total Rugby have come up with this interesting feature that highlights the top individual performers in the tournament in terms of the numbers. Broken down into categories, it goes through the top points scorers, the largest amount of metres run, lineouts won, top number of tackles, most offloads, turnovers, and then the top try scorers.
In most of the categories you can make an educated guess as to who leads the way. There’s one or two surprise players showing up though, as well as an ‘old timer’ leading the way for the backs. No doubt the players mentioned will play a huge role in the World Cup next year.
