England secured their place in the 2023 Rugby World Cup semi-finals with a nervy 30 – 24 victory over Fiji this evening.
Looking home and dry midway through the second half, England let a two-score lead slip as Fiji came racing back to 24 – 24 with less than ten minutes to play.
Unfortunately for the South Pacific Islanders, their set piece and rucking game cost them heavily today.
Losing the ball consistently at ruck time whilst being blasted in the scrum and maul. Fiji did exceptionally well to stay in the fight with the scraps of possession they did secure.
England relied heavily on the boot of captain Owen Farrell, who was sublime from the kicking tee.
Whilst the action on the field reached fever pitch at times with several big hits and scuffles. The action in the stands got equally testy as several English fans became involved in a scuffle.
Dressed to impress, a group of fans dressed in Navy sailor outfits got stuck in.
Without making light of what was a truly ugly incident, the fact that the group were dressed as they were added an interesting layer to the incident.
