New Zealand great John Kirwan has been in the headlines lately due to his outspoken views on not only red cards, but how the Pumas would get demolished by the All Blacks. Since the shock loss this past weekend, JK has stepped up to eat his humble pie.
The former winger, who scored one of the greatest solo tries ever scored at Rugby World Cup, is a regular on the Sky NZ show The Breakdown and hasn’t been shy of sharing his thoughts on a number of topics of late.
That included how he thought that the All Blacks wouldn’t need to put out a strong side to face Argentina.
He made jokes about the “mitigating circumstances” of Los Pumas’ issues with Covid-19 and lack of game time, suggesting New Zealand would easily win:
Fate, and a whole lot of courage and heart, intervened as Argentina went on to beat the All Blacks 25-15 in Sydney.
Kirwan has since apologised, going as far as to wear a Pumas jersey in studio and admit to his mistake.
See below as Kirwan gets into it, along with Jeff Wilson and Mils Muliaina, and discuss what exactly went wrong with the All Blacks, and how good Argentina were.
