Welsh-born-Kiwi raised backrow Taine Plumtree has signed for URC side the Scarlets ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Son of URC side the Cell C Sharks head coach John Plumtree, the 23-year-old joins the Scarlets from the Auckland Blues.
A former Junior All Black, Plumtree arrives in Wales with a serious reputation and will almost certainly already be on Welsh head coach Warren Gatland’s radar.
Speaking about his signing, Scarlets head coach Dwayne Peel said: “He is a player of huge potential.
“We are excited for him to join the young generation of Scarlets who are coming through the ranks.
“Taine is an athletic, versatile forward who is able to play across the back row.
“We have been impressed by what we have seen of him with Wellington and when he has featured for the Blues in Super Rugby.
“I am sure he will fit in well with the style of rugby we like to play and we’re looking forward to welcoming him into the group ahead of the new season.” Peel concluded.
