Seven times capped Wallaby Jack Maddocks has become one of Australian Rugby’s forgotten men.
Since moving to the Top 14 in 2021, the 27-year-old former Melbourne Rebel and Waratah has been away from the limelight of Australian Rugby.
Yet, this does not mean he has not been a strong performer for the French side, with whom he signed a two-year extension in December 2022.
Playing for Pau in their Top 14 clash with Bayonne this weekend, Maddocks scored a try that may well make new Wallabies boss Joe Schmidt sit up and take notice.
Receiving a long kick, Maddocks split the Bayonne defence with some quick footwork before leaving their last line of defence flat-footed to dive over the line.
Pau would go on to win a wild contest 42 – 40 to solidify their place in the top 6 on the table.
