The New South Wales Waratahs have just pulled off the biggest upset so far in the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season as they defeated the Crusaders 37 – 24 in Melbourne.
Playing a sublimely well balanced game, the Sydney side have shut down the dangerous Crusaders attacking game with ruthless efficiency.
On the other side of the ball, the Tahs have taken just about every opportunity that has come their way with captain Jake Gordon to the fore.
Setting up a world-class long-range try to take his side more than one score ahead, Gordon intercepted a loose Crusaders offload before finding his support.
Finishing off the move, Gordon’s halfback partner Taine Edmed put in a pinpoint crossfield kick to Triston Reilly, who jogged over for the score.
The Tahs are playing a blinder in round two of Super Rugby.

Minutes later Gordon would be at the heart of yet another long range try but this time the scrumhalf would finish the move of himself.
