No coaches in rugby have achieved more success than All Blacks trio Sir Graham Henry, Sir Steve Hansen and Sir Wayne Smith.
Architects of the All Blacks World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015, the trio took New Zealand Rugby from the doldrums to the top of the world.
Henry who coached the All Blacks last time the Rugby World Cup was in France back in 2007 would hand the batten to Hansen at the conclusion of the successful 2011 campaign.
From here Hansen would retain the title in 2015 before coming up just short in 2019 against a phenomenal England side coached by Eddie Jones.
Smith who was All Blacks head coach between 1999-2001 would play a key role in both the 2011 and 2015 successes as well as leading New Zealand’s women’s team the Black Ferns twelve consecutive victories and a World Cup title in 2022.
With such impressive credentials amongst them, there are few people better placed to pick an ultimate All Blacks XV.
Sitting down to select their ultimate team as part of New Zealand Rugby’s mini-series “All Blacks Masterminds”. The trio selected their dream forward pack in Episode 1.
Following much debate, the pack they chose looked as follows:
1. Tony Woodcock
2. Sean Fitzpatrick
3. Ken Gray
4. Brodie Retallick
5. Colin Meads
6. Ian Kirkpatrick
7. Richie McCaw
8. Zinzan Brooke
